Hello

My name is Annette Draughn. I am the author of the children's book: It is Good for My Bones. I am a retired National Board-Certified K-6 Elementary School teacher. I taught Kindergarten and First Grade for 28 years. My love for teaching and reading led me to begin a journey of writing books to engage and encourage children to become life-long readers.  I live in a rural area of North Carolina, with my husband, Winford Draughn. I have two daughters, Sheena and Shana and a blended family of 11 grandchildren.  I love sharing my writings with my grandchildren and engaging their input into the characters and storyline. I am looking forward to hearing from my readers.  You may contact me by email: adraughn560@gmail.com.

Illustrator: Hi, I’m Riley Draughn, a 2023 graduate of Elkin High School and the proud granddaughter of Annette Draughn. I created this book to inspire kids who may feel lost or out of place—to remind them that they can be anything, big or small. This project is close to my heart, and I’ve loved every moment of bringing it to life. As an artist, I’m still discovering my style, and this book is part of that journey.
